Uplift Technologies Recognized for Making Life Easier for People Living with Arthritis

DARTMOUTH, N.S. - UPEASY POWER lifting cushion shows promise in improving ease of use for the 70 million Americans with arthritis, according to an independent review panel recognized by the Arthritis Foundation. The UPEASY POWER lifting cushion received a favorable review from the independent panel comprised of design experts, people with arthritis and health professionals.

"This acclamation means a lot to us," says Michael Speraw, President of Uplift Technologies Inc. "We are honored that the Arthritis Foundation recognizes our product's favorable review, as we recognize the extent to which arthritis can be a painful and debilitating condition. In fact, one of our goals in manufacturing the UPEASY POWER and our other lifting cushions was to help people with arthritis."

The UPEASY POWER lifting cushion has several features that offer ease of use for people with arthritis:
•    Gentle lift the user receives when getting out of a chair;
•    Power levers require little force or dexterity to operate - a key area where the user must interact with the product on a regular basis;
•    Packaging is easy to open and to reseal;
•    Graphics on the box give a clear indication on how the product works;
•    Cushion is water resistant and the cover is washable.

These features are important as arthritis often limits everyday activities, such as getting in and out of a seated position. The UPEASY POWER eases the stress and strain on joints when sitting and rising.

UPEASY POWER was engineered to improve the quality of life for users as it helps those living with arthritis perform daily functions. The powered mechanism provides a gentle lift for 100 per cent of the user's weight when rising from, and lowering into a chair sofa, or recliner. The independent review panel determined that the controls were easy to operate, that the product met performance criteria, and that it is easy to care for.

Arthritis is the number one cause of disability in America, affecting one in three, or approximately 70 million Americans. For more information about arthritis, visit www.arthritis.org or contact the Arthritis Foundation at 1-800-283-7800.
